Christmas Smiles

A few years ago one of our customers (John) came into our store around Christmas time asking for left over corks from our sample bottles for a project he was working on. We didn't need them after we opened the bottles so we gave him a bag or so of them. Curiosity prodded us to inquire what his plans were with the corks, as they couldn't be used as bottles stoppers any longer. He explained to us that he was making 'Cork Reindeer' out of them and bringing them to the Children's hospital for the kids too sick to go home for the holiday. It was a moving sentiment, for this elderly man to go to such lengths for people he had never met, he just knew they needed a holiday smile.

This year, us at Cox Creek, wish to continue this joy that he brought. We are making the same reindeer and giving them away to any customers that come in with their kids this Christmas season.

These unique gifts are a reminder the reason of the season, to love and be loved by everyone around you. We hope they put a smile on everyone's face that sees them. Merry Christmas!

Christmas planning!

Hello all! The snow has already made its appearance here at the farm and now that Thanksgiving and Halloween have come and gone it's time to start planning for Christmas! I'll be soon decorating the winery, there will be Christmas carols and festivities all season long.

Have you thought about where you will be hosting your Christmas work parties? We have started booking for the Christmas season and space fills up quickly! Our indoor venue can hold up to 30 people for a sit down dinner accompanied by a selection of fabulous wine. Or come with your group for a tour and tasting along with cheese platters, h'orderves/appetizers, or a festive catered meal. Call for details and availability and pricing. A simple way to take the stress out of planning an elegant and intimate Christmas gathering. Don't get stuck last minute without a venue and have to invite your coworkers out for a 'festive burger' at a fast food joint.

Coming up on December 7th we will be having our annual Christmas open house, there will be cheese and crackers, wine tasting, live music and many of our wines will be discounted. The perfect time to stock up on those 'hard to buy for' people on your Christmas list.

Turkey Time!

Two special wines:

Country Symphony #8 - This delightfully fruity wine named after Mozart's masterpiece is made solely from cherries and strawberries. It is a medium sweetness wine, perfect for after dinner sipping or pairing with  Hors d'Ĺ“uvre.

Elderberry- This beautiful wine has a deep purple colour, full body and a strong elderberry taste. It's made from 100% elderberries grown in Ontario. This smooth wine pairs well with strong meats such as ostrich, peppercorn steaks, lamb or go completely Canadian and try it with venison.

These two unique wines are only here for a limited time, and there are only a few cases left on our shelves. You can only find this wine at Cox Creek and only for a short amount of time so hurry in before it's too late.

Don't forget that Thanksgiving is just a week away, whether you are hosting dinner or attending at a family or friend's house it is always appropriate to have a few bottles of wine on hand. We have just the thing! Why not put a bottle of Cranberry wine next to your fabulous cranberry sauce, or accompany that fine turkey with a nice crisp Apple Dream or perhaps sip on Spiced Russet (apple pie in a bottle) while you decide on a second piece or pumpkin or apple pie.

Start Planning!

It's a beautiful time of year in Canada, the leaves are turning colour, the air is crisp and clean, the fall harvest is upon us and it is the perfect weather for spending time with friends and family. What better way to spend a Sunday afternoon with your loved ones than to go on a winery tour at a beautiful location sipping several different vinos. Join us this Sunday at 2pm for a public tour and tasting, only $6 per person.

Fall is also a reminder that the Christmas season will soon be here, we are now booking Christmas office parties and family get-togethers. We have several options for your festivities, from tour and tastings paired with cheese platters, to formal sit down dinner parties catered by one of our fantastic caters. Take the stress out of this time of year by letting us plan a wonderful Christmas party for your family and friends.

Last but certainly not least, the final total from the Wellington Warrior Challenge has being calculated. Through the fund raising of the participants, the volunteers working day and night and customers donating money with their bottles of wine we were able to raise over $60,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society! This number is unbelievable, we are all so proud to say that this is possible in Wellington county. We can't wait to raise even more money next year at our Lobster fest and at the Wellington Warriors, the fight is never over.

More Money to Raise

After months of hard work, and a weekend full of running, climbing, swimming, lifting and fighting we are all proud to say that the Canadian Cancer Society along with Cox Creek raised thousands of dollars for cancer research.

Even through the down pour of rain we had on Saturday over 500 people came out to Cox Creek to participate or spectate the race, it flooded our ponds that the warriors had to troop through. What we expected to be a tough trek turned into a bitterly cold muddy swim across and yet all of the warriors did it with a smile on their faces, it was a truly inspiring site.

But we aren't done yet, we still have a few bottles of our 'Warrior Wine' left from the weekend. $2 from every bottle go directly to the Cancer Society.

Wellington Warriors

This weekend we are proud of be hosting the annual Wellington Warrior Challenge, a physically grueling obstacle course throughout our farm. Every year thousands of dollars are raised at this event for cancer research and this year we hope to raise more than ever, but we can't do it without your help.

We have our 'Warrior Wine' for sale in our store:

Seyval Blanc - $13.70
Baco Noir Oaked - $13.90

$2 from every bottle sold goes directly to Canadian Cancer Society. Also, for one day only we will be selling our warm spiced wine to be enjoyed while you watch the warriors troop through the course. Part of the proceeds of this wine will also go to the Cancer Society.

Volunteers from the  Cancer Society have been here day after day working on the course and making sure everything runs smoothly on Saturday, it is sure to be an enjoyable day for both participants and spectators.
